What's the buzz?

Toga11_1 We've been busy almost every spare moment preparing for the fundraiser we're hosting, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Everything is starting to fall into place nicely -- we have a good handful of KIng and Queen candidates (but we need more!), and quite a lot of risque fairies willing to go all out to help us raise money for Community United Against Violence.

First, quick re-cap. The Big Gay Frat House is hosting a frisky fairy fundraiser on August 26th with the theme "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Our Master of Ceremony is adult star Brent Corrigan, who can be seen under the name Fox Ryder in Falcon Studios' upcoming release "The Velvet Mafia." He will preside over a pageant where candidates will compete for the title of King or Queen of the Fairies, coming to the audience's attention through their performances, but the real voting is through the purchase of raffle tickets. (Guests who come dressed as a fairy or in a toga will also receive bonus votes that they can give to whichever candidates they wish, either because they loved the performance or were otherwise seduced...)

Julian Marshburn, Mr. SF Leather 2004 and a member of CUAV's board, will appear as Puck, accepting "bribes" to play pranks on fairy volunteers. Guests will also enjoy an open bar sponsored by Young's Market and desserts sponsored by the San Francisco Chocolate Factory. At the end of the evening, fairy volunteers will auction outrageous services (bachelor dates, perhaps, maybe massages, and some have even suggested they might sell their clothes ... all of their clothes).

All of this for a mere $35 admission price when buying in advance through Frantix. Tickets are $45 at the door, but capacity is limited and the event could sell out, so best to buy early online!

We've gotten a bit of buzz about the event already....

  • Brent Corrigan, our emcee, posted about it on his blog.
  • The Bay Area Reporter did a story today about CUAV that concludes with several paragraphs about the fundraiser
  • Jared Christopher posted about it on his blog, Completely Naked. Kevin had tried to recruit him to be a King candidate or a fairy...
  • Matt of Debriefing the Boys posted in early August (scroll almost all the way to the bottom)

And there is probably more buzz about it out there, too. If you know of more, let us know!
