All about events and happenings at the Big Gay Frat House in San Francisco's oh-so-gay Castro District, as well as our various adventures out and about in San Francisco.
The images we use are all original and are not lifted from the Internet, except when provided by promoters about their events. Our photos are uploaded to Flickr and linked back to here. Many of these images are restricted on Flickr due to showing some nudity or other adult content. To see full-size thumbnails of any restricted images in slideshows, you must create an account on Flickr, log in, and turn off SafeSearch in your account settings. This allows Flickr to prevent minors and those not interested in the content from accidentally seeing it.
In addition to the Men's Dodgeball that our friend DJ Go is promoting through the SF Rec & Parks Department, we have another friend conducting an event sponsored by Rec & Park:
Future Chefs
Our friend Matt, soon to graduate from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy, will be conducting a class teaching cooking basics for youth and adults alike who really know very little about cooking but would like to learn more.
A free demo will be held on September 2, 2011 (today!), and then the classes will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. every Friday at the Eureka Valley Rec Center, 100 Collingwood Street (at 18th), San Francisco.
The fee for the entire series is $48, but scholarships are also available. Call 415/831-6810 for more information.
My friend, DJ Go, has been deejaying for the San Francisco Rec & Park'sWomen's Dodgeball for some time now. And now they're about to launch a new all-male event in the Castro at the Eureka Valley Rec Center.
Men's Dodgeball will be held every Saturday from 1:00pm until 3:00pm starting September 10th and continuing through December 10th. Players can pay $33 for the entire season or just drop in for a game for only $5. Check out their Facebook page to stay up to date.
I'm not coordinated enough to play, but I might become a cheerleader if DJ Go manages to get some of our friends to compete. And you can bet that if they ever get a game going of strip dodgeball (semi-NSFW), I'll be there with camera in tow!
(P.S. I may be mistaken, but this might well be the first BGFH blog post tagged with "Sports.")
Here's the final set of SF Boylesque's Bohemian Brethren performing at Truckon Thursday, June 15, 2011. If you haven't already seen them, check out the firstand secondsets.
I caught another show there on August 11th. I'll post those videos later.

The Finale
Again, if you haven't seen them, check out the firstand secondsets.
In my last post, I shared some videos from SF Boylesque's Bohemian Brethren's "Brother-Wood" performance at Truck in July. To whet your appetite for their next show on August 11, 2011, here are some more videos from that night. The final set is also now posted.

Brothers' Choice
The Bohemian Brethren each picked an audience member who had through the intermission to plan their own impromptu routine with assigned props. Here's the choosing, performance, and selection of a winner.
Longtime fans of the Big Gay Frat House may recall that at the last fundraiser held in our home, SF Boylesque was not only the beneficiary but also did the performances. Jugglers, dancers, the strongest man in the world ... and, of course, choreographed strip tease acts. They haven't had a regular place to perform in a while, but on Thursday, July 14th, the Bohemian Brethren -- SF Boylesque's male strip tease team -- performed at Truck, a bar in San Francisco's SOMA district.
And before I go much farther, let me add that they will be performing there again on Thursday, August 11.
The theme for their July performance was "Brother-Wood," a tribute to Hollywood films that didn't star SF Boylesque, but should have. Films like Black Swan, Psycho, and others.
You can check out my photos and screen captures on Flickr ... or, better yet, you can view videos here. Here are the first four. More will be coming in another post later.

That's it for now. I'll try to post more in the next few days.
Last month I repportedthat our friend Chadwick, a security guard at The Cafe, celebrated his birthday by renting a mechanical bull. While I'm not a huge country music fan, it was so much fun to do something so completely different in the Castro.
It's taken me forever, but now in addition to my photos on Flickr, I've also posted the videos on Youtube.
You never know what hijinks will ensue when the alcohol starts flowing. Last week we managed to talk two friends into playing a spontaneous game of strip pool at The Cafe -- and not in the wee hours of night but during happy hour, no less!
Sadly, the California ABC won't allow for full nudity in bars, so they could only go down to their underwear. (Perhaps next time we'll get boys to wear a jockstrap under their skivvies. Or maybe we should change ABC regulations?)
You never know what's going to happen. Stop by and join in the fun ... and if you to play a game of strip pool, I bet we can persuade people to give up the table for one game.
In our last post, we shared some photos and videos of the top contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race performing at The Cafe in San Francisco. (There are also photos on Flickr.) Each of the girls performed twice. Here are the remaining ones.
Raven
Raven, season two's first runner-up, performs again at The Cafe.
Alexis Mateo
Alexis Mateo, second runner-up from season three, takes to the stage a second time.
Manila Luzon
First runner-up from season three, performed next.
Raja
And the final performance of the night was season three winner Raja.
Following the finale of RuPaul's Drag Race on Logo, the winner and many of the other contestants head out on a tour of gay bars around the country. As a top tier city, San Francisco was graced with performances of the top three contestants -- winner Raja, first runner-up Manila Luzon, and second runner-up Alexis Mateo -- as well as season two runner-up Raven. And for the second year in a row, The Cafehosted San Francisco's show.
Local drag queen Ginger Snap emceed the show after being introduced by The Cafe's resident drag hostess, Pollo Del Mar, who throws the drag show The Glamazone every Sunday night at 9:30.
Pre-Show
The tour and the show are sponsored by Absolut vodka, and the new Absolut San Francisco infusion premiered at the show. Here are a handful of pre-show pics. There are a lot more on Flickr.
Ginger Snap
Local drag queen Ginger Snap kicked off the show. I should note at this point that the sound on these videos is a little off. The best vantage I could find was upstairs in the attrium behind a window. The video quality still seems fine, but unfortunately it's easier to hear the crowd around me than it is to hear the music she's lip-synching to.
Raven
Next up was the first runner-up from Season 2, Raven. Of course, she performed at The Cafe the year before along with the other Season 2 finalists.
Alexis Mateo
Next was Alexis Mateo, second runner-up from Season 3. (By the way, she's returning to The Cafe on Saturday, August 27, 2011.)
Manila Luzon
Then came Manila Luzon, one of the "Heathers" and first runner-up from Season 3. (In a future post, I'll share video from another performance she did at Club 8 a few days later.)
Raja
And, finally, the winner of Season 3: Raja!
End of Round 1
That was the first round of performances. You can see the rest in part two.
This is where I'll be spending happy hour tonight. Perhaps I can entice a few cute boys to play strip pool? Or maybe recreate the infamous "shirtless Thursdays" night?
