GayCities.com, a travel-oriented gay social networking site that provides ratings and reviews of LGBT businesses, had an awesome party at Trigger on Wednesday to promote the new check-in feature on their iPhone app.
The check-in feature operates similar to FourSquare, allowing users with the free app to "check in" at a nightclub or other venue to let their friends know where they are. The app also allows users to look up nearby businesses to find descriptions and reviews, an invaluable tool for gay travelers.
The event featured a video display showing live check-ins at the party, a deejay, a free spread of appetizers, free Blue Angel vodka drinks from 8:00 til 9:00 (and drink specials after 9:00), and (of course!) go-go dancers wearing GayCities briefs.
As I understand it, the app currently only exists for the iPhone, but I believe I've heard rumors that they are working on a droid version. Of course, everyone use GayCities' other features through the website, though I believe the check-in feature only works through the app, not web-enabled phones.
